Every two years, Massachusetts EMS providers must renew their certification. In years past, it has been as easy as filling out a form and mailing it with a check, wait a few weeks and your new certification card comes in the mail.
That is no longer the case. The renewal database is maintained by a third party, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The renewal process is tedious and requires attention to detail that was not previously required. It is your responsibility to ensure that all records of your training have been uploaded to the NREMT site and appropriately distributed among the National, Local and Individual continuing education requirements to ensure that your renewal application is processed. Additionally, there is a payment of $25.00 required to process your application at the NREMT site.
But wait, there’s more! When you have finished with the NREMT site, you must then file a recertification application with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Office of Emergency Medical Services. This state run website requires the payment of $125.00 to renew your certification.
Neither website is particularly user friendly and that, coupled with the fact that a provider only accesses these sites on a very limited basis-once every two years in the case of the state website-makes for a navigational nightmare that is time consuming and frustrating to say the least.
EMTRenewal.com has been set up to help streamline this process. With a “one-and-done” process, you provide your information to us and make a single payment. We do the rest. With extensive experience as an NREMT Training Officer, Excelsior Emergency Medical Training’s staff is able to navigate these websites expertly, having done it on hundreds of occasions. We will audit your account with the NREMT and if all conditions are met, file your renewal applications and pay the associated fees with both the NREMT and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If there are additional requirements to complete your application, we will help you through the process step by step to ensure your recertification application is processed successfully.
We are currently building this site in anticipation of the 2023 renewal season, which runs from October 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023. Please check back if you are interested in this time saving service.
